When in rough waters, always trust your Captain
Hey Gamecock Fans!
How about all those pesky Dawgs getting arrested over the weekend? I think we have been replaced as the bad boys of the South now since we haven't made the headlines in weeks for any altercations. Actually USC is flying low under the radar this year without so much as a mention from the larger media outlets. Of course Garcia has been out of town so let’s not hold our breath.
No one is paying any attention to the Gamecocks after our frightful ending to last season which is perfect for Spurrier's crew. With all the attention being focused on LSU, Florida and those Dawgs, Spurrier can keep the team focused on the fundamentals. There is no hype for us this year and overachieving is really the only thing the Cocks can do with such low expectations. Truth be told I think the most reasonable of us knew that the team wasn't that great before they ran into the wall at mid-season last year. Captain Spurrier sure knew it and he warned us about the rough waters ahead throughout.
Spurrier has his boys this year and no excuses, not that he has ever made any. I think the Coach will have something up his sleeve for all of those people who look past the Gamecocks on their schedule. The only question I see is who is going to step up and be the leader on this team? I am pulling for Mr. Brinkley mainly because he had to watch the same mess we did last year after he was relegated to the sidelines with his injury. I believe it tore at him as it did for all of us to watch teams score at will during game changing drives in the 4th quarters. During that Arkansas game I wanted to strap on a helmet myself and see if I couldn’t at least touch one of those backs. Look for big things from the returning LB.
