South Carolina made its presence known during the 2012 NFL Draft. Six Gamecocks heard their names called in the seven-round NFL draft and will look to make a big impression during their rookie seasons in the NFL. South Carolina tied for third-most draft picks by one college, following behind Alabama with eight and Oklahoma and Georgia with seven.A few other players signed as undrafted free agents as well.

2011 was the best year for the Gamecocks in the SEC since joining the conference in 1992. South Carolina finished with a 6-2 record in SEC play and went 5-0 in the SEC East for the first time ever. However, the Gamecocks were unable to finish as SEC East champions thanks to their two losses to SEC West foes Auburn and Arkansas.

Look! Up in the sky!  It's a bird!  It's a plane!  Nope.  Chuck Testa.  Well, actually it's the Gamecocks soaring expectations.  They have never been this high. The Gamecock coaches, players, recruits and fans all expect the Gamecocks to jump to unparalleled heights.  It's amazing that a team for which becoming "bowl eligible" was the goal just 10 years ago is now shooting for division and conference titles.
